Peacock is a location specific social networking and messaging app. It allows you to get in touch with everyone in your immediate area, be it a bar, a festival, a conference, a university faculty etc. Through this we’re hoping to create a friendlier world, where people can leverage technology to actually meet new people, instead of just viewing happenings from afar after they’ve already occurred. How Peacock works: 1) Peacock shows you where conversations (Rooms) are happening near you. 2) Enter rooms near you, or create them yourself. 3) Join the conversation by posting a Yell. 4) Get points by posting witty Yells. 5) ??? 6) Profit! 7) Can’t think of anything to say? Just hit send to Wildcard! 8) A Yell catch your eye? Chat about it privately! 9) Remember, your new best friend is only meters away. 10) Yell with no regrets! Yells automatically disappear after 24 hours. 11) Enjoy your newly enriched social network. Co-Founders Christian Fougner (@clfougner) and James Patterson (@klaymenj) will be on stand by to answer any questions :)

Im really excited about using this at conferences like iCast... I like the idea of giving points @peacock_yell @clfougner whats the breakdown for points distribution? I feel like a points system really help users because people love ranking :)

@randibarry Hey Randi, thanks so much for Hunting us, and thanks for the great question! Currently the points system is very simple: 1 like = 1 point, so if a user's Yell get's 10 likes they'll get 10 points. In part the points will be able to simply show how much a person has contributed to the Peacock community, but seeing as we encourage people to meet eachother in real life, points should also give an indication of if someone is worth meeting up with. In the future we may also add further functionality to the points, such as bumping highly ranked users' Yells to the top of the room or moderator privileges, but we'll have to see how the community develops before we make a decision on that front :).

@clfougner I like that idea of seeing how it progresses and having the options to change as the community grows :) Thanks!

The Wildcard seems interesting! I havent had a chance to use it yet, can you explain a bit more about it or do I just need to wait and see @clfougner @klaymenj? Also, with you guys being based in London and Sweden how did you meet and dream up Peacock Yell?

@randibarry Well to be honest, Wildcards are my favourite feature of Peacock! Simply put, if you don't know what to post, simply press the send button. I'll have to leave the rest up to you to find out ;) How James and I met: James and I went to the same school and have known eachother since we were 6! Both of our families live in Zurich, so we'll meet every holiday and we visit eachother multiple times a year in Oslo and London :)
