@daniel_schwartz That's a great idea. Let me see what I can do...

The logo, name, and design are very similar to Penny which is my favorite current financial assistant. What's the difference between you guys?

@mxsawyer Also interested in the intersection with Penny?

@andrewyellis very interesting differences between the two of them.

@mxsawyer Not my best grammar or word choice. Meant to say: I am also interested in the intersection with Penny, which as you've said seems to intersect heavily with many parts of Olivia.

@mxsawyer Is there a similarity to Penny (and for that matter, any other financial assistant using a chat interface)? Yep, that's how product paradigms as ubiquitous as chat work. To try and completely reinvent obvious chat design patterns would have been to the detriment of the user experience. When using the app, it becomes pretty obvious that there are a bunch of differences. Some of those differences are manifested in a different UI, but many of them are manifested in the set of features. The only true similarities I see to Penny are: it's a chat interface, primarily, and both use a female persona. I can tell you that Penny was simply a competitor (among many others) that we looked at long after the design process was in full-motion. We'd already identified the main functionality and UX paradigms via a rigorous sketching, paper-prototyping, and wireframing process that I converted to interactive prototypes. I'm happy to explain more, if people are curious!

@chrismeeks Thanks! I have no issues other than the brand distinguishing aspect (the logos are pretty similar) but other than that I understand! Currently sitting at #6014 in the queue and looking forward to eventually moving up!

Hi, @mxsawyer. Thanks for reaching out. Btw... I know the folks from Penny and they’re doing a great job. No doubt. Related to your questions, to be fairly honest our logo was designed in the beginning of 2015 when Penny didn’t exist. We aimed for a brand that people could relate to easily. I believe we achieved that. Regarding the name, we wanted something that was approachable, easy to pronounce, and could easily translate to several languages. I agree it has some small similarities but the product overall approach is much different :)

@chrismeeks Thanks for the reply - clears things up for me as well. No accusation meant, more simply curious and the ubiquitous paradigm comment was more or less enough by itself. Looking forward to seeing the 'bunch of differences' when the batches reach... #8975 (oh no, down 250!). ;)

@andrewyellis No problem! I'm a firm believer in leveraging existing design patterns as much as possible. Taking that approach will – by definition – create a lot of similar experiences.
