Okel was inspired by my own journey finding home at the dinner table after leaving Syria on asylum in 2013 then living, working, and studying in 5 different countries and visiting many more.  Yet when I returned from my graduate studies abroad, I was shocked with the lonely transition from living with friends 24/7 to being on my own, and realized more than 60% of the population is either reverting to dating apps to make friends (and mostly failing to) or numbing our loneliness with all sorts of distractions. Eating is a celebration of life, but we all crave more than food. So I left my job to start Okel and make more meaningful meals more accessible to anyone anywhere.
