There are many great qualities of dating apps but as busy professionals, one of our main frustrations was just the time it took going through profiles - and how the apps themselves didn't have a sense of what we were looking for 🤷 So, we created Offline AI. Instead of public profiles, where you randomly run into coworkers, past classmates, and friends, it's based on a private survey, where you detail more about yourself and what you're looking for. Sorry, I didn't quite understand how it works. Is it based on email newsletters? Or is there still some kind of interface? Can I see the profile of a person or is immediately invited to a date?

@shcheglov it depends on what you and the person outline as your preferences in the survey itself- like if the potential match and you both prefer blind setups, or if you want to see profiles beforehand, etc. It's personalized to what you're looking for- but mainly intros through email or text with context on why it's a good fit!

Sounds good! Do you plan to focus just on the dating aspect or do you think you'll eventually expand this to for example meeting new people with similar interests / hobbies, etc.?

That’s an interesting idea. Current plan is to gain traction in dating, but if that goes well we could look at expanding to tangential spaces- kinda like Bumble has done

I assume the matching is done between members of Offline AI? The biggest issue with dating apps is getting a critical mass. I used to be in the dating software business for a while.

Yeah the chicken and egg problem is definitely the main hurdle. We’ll focus on one city (or even campus) first and aim to get traction there before expanding- but would love to hear more about your experience in the space!

So, you think your AI can be a better judge than a person himself or herself for a romantic match, huh ? Pretty gutsy proposition if you ask me, considering I have had a failed marriage from an online date and my second (and current) wife is a result of another online dating match, which I have not used any kind of AI or even a structured dating site. I'm just curious how your AI decides on the visual match ? You know the animal attraction part. Or are you making a silly assumption that, looks are not that important at all? And how does your AI deal with the lies people tell on their dating profiles? As far as I can see, you are not matching people (at least not on the non-free tiers) with others from your database only. How does your AI detect a person who claims to be athletic while pressing 300 lbs on the scale with a 5'7 stature ? As a skeptic an forever cynic person, I have big reservations against AI picking a potential mate for me.

@travelsalot All totally fair points! I think the visual component is important too and that some of that can be paired through automation. For us one of the big issues we're just trying to help with is the time required with going through dating apps- manually sifting through hundreds of profiles through swipe/etc vs letting a tool like ours bring good matches to you. Really appreciate the thoughts!

Interesting product. Does it keep track of your answers to propose you more matches with time? Also, have you already received any type of feedback from beta users maybe? I'd be curious to see if something as inexplicable as chemistry has more chances to work with offline AI instead of regular dating apps

@rubenwolff Yes it does ideally get better and better over time! It won't be a perfect system to start with, but ideally can help alleviate some of the pain points we faced when going through current existing apps and platforms
