Built this because I kept switching to Obsidian just to glance at one note (daily note / checklist). This menu bar app previews a selected Markdown file from a hot corner or a hotkey, and opens it in Obsidian on I wanted a Quick Note–style experience for Obsidian, similar to macOS Hot Corners: move the cursor into a screen corner and instantly preview a note without switching apps. Obsidian Hot Corner MD is a small macOS menu bar app that shows a preview of a selected Markdown note via hot corners or a hotkey, lets you adjust corners/width/line limit, and opens the note in Obsidian on click (obsidian://). Setup note: hot corners rely on global mouse tracking, so macOS may ask for Input Monitoring permission. It’s open source (MIT) — feedback and feature requests are welcome (especially multi-monitor and corner sensitivity).click. Open source (MIT).

Quick update on improvements:

Homebrew (macOS) support is now available

Install:

brew install --cask nbox/tap/obsidian-hot-corner-md

Uninstall:

brew uninstall --cask --zap obsidian-hot-corner-md

Next up: I’m planning quick note editing without opening Obsidian.

Also, I automated builds on version bumps in GitHub Actions — mostly to make my own release process easier
