Hey PH! We’ve been hard at work making Next, a powerful and beautiful new iPhone keyboard, for the past 6 months. Excited to share it here first. We’re on a mission to make you love your keyboard. Here’s a couple of videos that show how we’re approaching this from the perspective of iPhone fans. @robjama Looks really nice! Any idea when we can enjoy it for real?
@timanrebel Thanks Timan! We're doing early beta testing now. There's a link to a Type Form on our site. If you put your details in there. I'll make sure you and PH'ers get in first. https://nextkeyboard.typeform.co...
@robjama Cool, filled it in. Thanks!
@robjama spacebar cursor is neat but I don't understand what's better about the shift key... Is it simply that the letters switch to all-caps when you press it? That in itself is pretty good, but I'm not sure if I'm missing something.
@shimmb It's hard to tell when shift is active vs. inactive. It's the number one thing people asked us to fix. We're addressing it by changing the case when you press shift, making the key states much clearer and incorporating a unique sound for shift and caps lock.
Looks great, love the spacebar swipe to jump back a few characters/words. Reminds me of the jailbreak tweak "SwipeSelection", but accessible without any modification, which is great. Can't wait!
@boettges Thanks Peter. That was definitely an inspiration :)
Love the cursor control! Like, REALLY love it!
Been looking for a keyboard alternative, my thumbs could not get used to Swype (kept hitting the M key instead of delete). Would love to give this a try.
Hey @robjama! This looks good - signed up for the beta. I'm hoping I don't have the same issues I did with Swype - had to delete it in the end because it was causing my messages to freeze/crash constantly. One question: what is the music you're using for the video? I know I've heard it before but can't think where, and Shazam failed to help!
@riaface Hey Ria, Thanks! Yeah, 3rd party keyboards were really buggy esp. with iOS 8. iOS 8.1 fixed a lot of the keyboard issues. We're going to be doing a lot of beta testing and bug squashing to make sure we ship a solid experience with our V1. The track in the video is the same one we used with our Wake Alarm video (
). I got it from the audionetwork.com and had it modified a bit.
