potential to intake massive amounts of data

possibility that we won't react well to taking in that much data

not like i have anything but thoughts about it. i have no scientific basis whatsoever for my thoughts on the issue. i like it because i have always wanted to be able to read like johnny 5 from short circuit. i want to be able to click on a .PDF and neuralink it to my brain. wouldn't that make things nice if there were no downsides.

James Polk has never used this product.

Eventually we all become cyborgs. Many of us already are, depending on your definition. 🤖

@rrhoover I've been watching far too much Black Mirror for me not to be a little worried about meshing tech + the human brain...

Elon has often spoken of the next step in human intelligence involving a direct link between our brain and the AI. This panel he was recently on with all the best AI people in the world is super interesting:
TL;DR Elon believes our (human) "input" is actually quite high (our eyes can see a lot of things in super HD) but our "output" is limited by what he calls "meat sticks" (our fingers). Hence, the solution is to connect the AI directly to our brain, so we can have input/output closer to that of a machine. --- Articles about Elon's newest company (since the company's landing page only directs to jobs) Wall Street Journal (who broke the story): Elon Musk Launches Neuralink to Connect Brains With Computers The Verge: Elon Musk launches Neuralink, a venture to merge the human brain with AI Business Insider: Elon Musk has launched a company that hopes to link your brain to a computer

Man, I don't know how he does it. Running so many relevant, important companies... how does he have time for another one? BCI (brain computer interface) seems inevitable, excited to see him working on it. It's pretty hard to find more info, TechCrunch wrote a brief article:

@a13n maybe he already has one of these

@jollymonatx That would explain a lot. And also be a pretty legit testimonial for his new company. 😅

@a13n I thought exactly the same thing when I heard about this. The other exciting thing is that despite all his projects seeming initially sci-fi-esque they actually start to show results so since it's been operating for a year I'm hoping we will see something from it soon.

How he does it? Picking some technologies at left of the Gartner's hype cycle.... there is other report that consider other dimension: the imapct that it would have. BCI is part of the transfomational.
