So far... the algo is pulling good mixes. No DJ announcements/Intros. Cheating in some listening time while at work...so I've not delved too deeply yet. I do notice that the genre picker invokes my keyboard ... which then get's in my way. But I'm a fan of SoundCloud and anything that can help cut through the static on that platform has my attention.

@jimcanto Thanks glad you like it! Will take a look into the genre picker interfering with the keyboard!

@philhudson91 big fan of sites to help music discovery because it takes too much time investment on my part otherwise haha. This looks cool. I've got for a jungle mix this morning! I do need to see some old school hip-hop mixes there though. Then I will LOVE it. Like how I can like on this site and connects with my soundcloud account :) Are the mixes all random or have to be pre-approved by you? @jnsdls you may like this. Also @rrhoover obvs

@bentossell Hey! So glad you like it! Certainly can look at adding other genres in, will do a crawl to see if it is viable (we require a certain amount of tracks at a consistent quality) to do so. I wrote an algorithm that scans mixes on SoundCloud and uses the data returned to predict their probably quality. We only add mixes to Mixmatic if they are deemed to be a quality mix, rated by the algorithm. And finally, thanks again!

@bentossell Good news, we just ran a deploy and have 10 new genres, including Hip Hop! :) Enjoy! (I've also been working on an iOS app!)

So do you only pull from SC as your main source? How would you deal with mixes that aren't up to your quality standard but might have slipped past your algorithm? Cool job man!

@adammarx13 Yep all from SC! We can manually remove them, not pretty but it works! Although, we haven't had to do it yet which is good. If users do find a mix that isn't up to standards, they should tweet us @mixmatic_io (I should really write that somewhere on the site!) Thanks for your time! :)

@philhudson91 cool man! So what made you want to build something like this? What's your background, if you don't mind my asking.

@adammarx13 Certainly! Me and a couple of friends are all programmers - we are into electronic music, but finding new music was often a pain or time consuming. We preferred to listen to DJ mixes than individual tracks and there wasn't really a product out there that could fulfil those requirements, so we just built it! In terms of my background, I studied marketing at University but got to my second year and kinda decided it wasn't me - I decided to finish the degree anyway but funded my way through learning to code and freelancing. I came out of uni and made my way into digital advertising - which is the perfect mix for my background. I worked for two years in various tech positions in digital advertising companies in London, but I kinda prefer working by myself, where I want and on what I want - so in November I quit and move abroad - now I work for myself and do a bit of contracting (a few hours a week) to provide security. Hopefully I'll be on here with some more apps at a later stage. Building stuff and adding value to the world is really my dream - so I just gotta continue trying to do that! :)
