MightyMeld is the visual way for web developers to build front end UIs for evolving codebases. Drag, drop, click, and prompt app interfaces into place as you code. MightyMeld makes building and updating even the most sophisticated web applications effortless.
👋 Howdy Product Hunters!
Exhilarated to be sharing MightyMeld with the community today. We are grateful for all the support ❤️ 💪 😎 🔥 that has helped us get to this point.
We built MightyMeld to make front-end development faster and easier by making it more visual.
MightyMeld was inspired game engines, where devs can pause the game, fix things, and keep playing. Why can't web developers have this too? We decided to do something about it.
We have been testing with a small group of developers, things are going well, so we're spreading the word so more can benefit as we improve our product. We appreciate your support in learning about MightyMeld, sharing your thoughts, and trying it out.

Congratulations Steven and the whole team, this is super exciting. I'm interested in understanding how the AI features work - what models are you using, and are you incorporating my codebase and code 'style' into that model somehow?
@tedcarstensen Thank you!
Our AI assist is targeted toward individual JSX elements. So you select an element, and then type a prompt for how you want to modify that element. That’s usually a style change, but it could be non-style props you want to update too. The feeling is one of updating your live running app while you're using it. And you can see your code update too, and undo easily when the AI doesn't generate what you want.
We currently send just that element, e.g. `` and your prompt (e.g. “Make this large”) to our model that is based on OpenAI. Your code is then modified according to the conventions of your code (Tailwind, MUI, Chakra, etc.). This is just the beginning, but is already turning out to be surprisingly useful. It doesn't grab the steering wheel or anything, but gently helps you along the way. We're working on a more extensive system that utilizes more of the codebase.
As far as the code style, the main thing we work on is making sure we adhere to your coding conventions for things like single-vs-double quotes, indentation, etc. and that is all handled without AI.

MightyMeld seems like a great concept, but what kind of support does MightyMeld have for the thousands of open source libraries that people use on top of React? Will adding any other 3rd party dependencies break it?
@temcewen Great question! This is something we care about a lot. We’ve built MightyMeld as a layer on top of your running app. So the usual flow of making edits and seeing your app hot reload is still there. The difference is you can click on an element and make changes visually. Because your entire app is running (and not just isolated components), you get all the 3rd party libraries, complex logic, etc.
Check out this explanation of our architecture for more about how it works: https://mightymeld.com/blog/how-...
React developers — if MightyMeld looks like something you might want to use on one of your own projects, don’t hesitate to ask for help. You can schedule time with one of us and we’ll walk you through the setup. https://calendly.com/mightymeld/...

@schkoine@halffullheart Congrats on the launch! I'm a Next developer and I just installed the package and tried it out. I often have difficulty finding a file inside the editor to fix part of the website. MightyMeld would make the process faster. Looking forward to seeing more features to come!
@schkoine@halffullheart@atsuhiro_teshima Glad you got off to a good start! Tons of Next users on our platform we use it ourselves for our home page! If you are stuck on something, have thoughts, or just want to chat please join our Discord or book a zoom session to chat with us -- links on our website mightymeld.com
@luciantartea thank you Lucian! Yes we aspire to empower developers to think visually -- while producing normal code that you can then use with all your normal tooling. Long time ago I was inspired by this book --https://www.amazon.com/Visual-Th... -- the inspiration lives on in this product!
