Meslingo Slack App

Translate, Understand, and Act — Directly in Slack

Meslingo Slack App stands out by acting as an AI Agent Assistant inside Slack, not just a translation tool. It provides private, in-channel auto-translation visible only to the user. With Translate and Explain shortcuts, it helps clarify meaning and context. Uniquely, Meslingo can summarize channels, recap conversations, and send messages on the user’s behalf using their identity, making it a true AI teammate rather than a passive utility.

I built Meslingo Slack App to solve a personal problem I faced while working in a multinational team as part of a local group. In daily Slack conversations, some teammates naturally used their native languages such as Korean, Japanese, Chinese, or Urdu instead of English. Existing translation apps often created noise by posting translated messages publicly, cluttering channels and disrupting other members. I wanted a solution that enabled seamless understanding without affecting the shared workspace. The goal was to provide secure, private translation for up to 80 languages directly in Slack—either automatically or via shortcuts—where only the user can see the translated content. As the product evolved, I expanded it beyond translation into an AI Agent Assistant that can generate messages from notes, summarize channels, and send messages on the user’s behalf using their identity. The approach was shaped by applying AI and LLMs alongside Slack’s Agent and ephemeral message capabilities, ensuring translations remain private and the experience feels native, efficient, and unobtrusive.
