I’d like a way to pick the position type, like openings or endgames, so I can practice what I actually play. A longer history view of my progress (rating, memory span, speed) would also help. A mobile app, or at least an easier home screen shortcut, would make daily practice easier too.
Hi Product Hunt! I'm Bing, the solo developer behind Memory Chess.
We launched here about a year ago and placed 5th. Since then the game has grown from about 100 to about 1,800 players a month, and many of the changes in 2.0 started as a sentence in the feedback box.
What's new:
• A daily board. Everyone gets the same position once a day, with one try and its own leaderboard. Monday is gentle, it gets harder through the week, and Sunday is one big board.
• A skill rating that moves both ways. The old one only went up, so everyone drifted to the top. Now each board has a difficulty, and your rating is the board you rebuild about 70% correctly.
• A dashboard with your memory span, accuracy trend, the squares you miss most and your streak. Your round history stays in your browser, and you can export it.
• A result screen that shows what each round did to your numbers, and a link that replays your round piece by piece.
• A full redesign, in 24 languages.
I'd love your feedback:
1. Does your rating feel fair after 5 to 10 rounds?
2. Does one try at the daily board feel right, or too harsh?
3. What would make you come back tomorrow?
Thanks for playing!

@bingcheng45 hi Bing, nice launch. i have a question cause i can't understand it from the website: is the product 100% free?
If the history stays in the browser, what happens to my streak when I switch from my phone to my laptop?
@adamvisu we have plans to have accounts in the future!
for now playing with mouse and fingers are quite different experience as well. i think it might also be interesting to collect data on which you are faster for the current time being :P
@bingcheng45 Fair enough, mouse vs fingers would be a fun stat to see
Fun idea that Memory Chess has you study a position and then rebuild it from memory, which trains recall way better than just reading it.
@karimbenkeroum yes it came from a youtube i watched to help me improve my memory, and i wanted to bring it to live!
Love that you train chess through memory and recall instead of just tactics, a fresh way to build real board vision. Congrats on the launch!
