Mataroa is a naked blogging platform, for minimalists. Just write. 100% open source. No ads, zero tracking. No email required for signup. No platform lock-in, export anytime. Most features are free. $9/year for custom domain. A truly beautiful product.
Choosing a blogging platform is a big commitment. I've been looking for something beautiful, simple, quick, and powerful, for as long as I can remember. I was so desperate that I even considered building it myself. Then I saw the maker (@sirodoht) announce the launch of Mataroa on Twitter and I thought "wow, that's exactly what I wanted". Mataroa is a rare example of truly beautiful software. It's both simple and powerful. Blogging has become plagued by bloated software, ugly complexity, ads, popups, dark patterns, and more. Mataroa solves all of these. I think this is a phenomenal product. The maker also generously provides basically all functionality for free. I like this product so much that I've been trying to convince the maker to increase their prices by at least 10-20x. So far, no luck. Give Mataroa a go, it's brilliant.
Hey PH!
Mataroa is a minimal text-focused blogging engine and platform (even the pictures of the post are actually text :D)
Except for minimalism, there is also focus on privacy and platform independence (aka no platform lock-in). We realise the latter one by providing:
* monthly email backups
* export options for static site generators
* redirect to one's new off-Mataroa domain
Privacy is taken into consideration across many aspects:
* We require no email for signup.
* We have zero tracking.
* Our servers are off big-tech, in a country with stricter-than-average privacy laws.
* We are 100% open source: https://github.com/sirodoht/mataroa
Today, we also launch a first space for the mataroa community. In the spirit of minimalism, it's a simple mailing list :D Hope to see you there!

Loved the direction that Mataroa is taking *so much* that I immediately cancelled my Posthaven subscription. Then, of course, I wrote a love letter to the product: https://pratul.net/blog/mataroa-...
Thanks for doing this, @sirodoht!

Lots of interesting hype, but I can do this with Google Docs. What am I missing?
