Masthead has saved me so much time. - Its precise monitoring over BQ gives me exactly the query I need when dbt transformation jobs hang. And pushing the bug to Jira was just a few clicks. - Its column level lineage makes finding a field out of thousands of tables super easy. - Its compute cost analysis shows us how much each service/query costs intuitively, which gives query optimization a head start. More importantly, its built on top of GCP logs so no customer data is queried at all, which is HUGE for security and HIPAA compliance.

While everyone is running towards building their own LLMs, Masthead Data is supporting innovators, ensuring that data pipelines are running economically (and pointing out how to fix the ones that aren't), all without having to read or query sensitive data. I have been working with the Masthead for over 6 months now and I can say that I have never seen such a product in the GCP environment which allows you to monitor over 30,000 tables and views, including looker reports. For me the main sign of quality and usefulness is the moment when using a certain product becomes a daily routine - so in the case of Masthead checking incidents reports is a mandatory morning and evening ritual for me, which allows me to look at our huge ecosystem in Bigquery. In addition, Masthead has a data catalog related functionality that GCP DataPlex doesn't have - column level lineage in tables - which is exactly what we as data engineers and data analysts have been missing.
