I built this because I’m tired of "Sign Up to Download." Every developer knows the drill: You’re deep in your IDE. You ask Claude for a README or some system architecture docs. It gives you great Markdown and complex Mermaid diagrams. But then—friction. You need to preview the layout or tweak the charts, so you paste it into an online editor. And suddenly: • Create an account to download. • Formatting breaks because the editor is basic. • Ads everywhere. • The preview lags or doesn't support the Mermaid diagrams the AI just gave you. I didn’t want a SaaS. I just wanted a tool that worked. So I spent my weekends building Markups—an open-source editor that stays out of your way. Why I actually use it daily: • VS Code Engine: It’s powered by Monaco. You get the same IntelliSense, multi-cursor, and minimap you’re used to in your IDE. • Built for Architecture: Native support for Mermaid.js (flowcharts) and KaTeX (math). It handles the complex files AI agents generate without breaking. • Total Freedom: One-click export to PDF, HTML, or Markdown. No watermarks. No logins. No "pro" plans. • Offline First: It’s a PWA. It saves to your local storage and works even when your Wi-Fi doesn't. I built this to solve my own headache—getting clean docs out of the browser and into my project instantly. If you’re tired of the "Sign up to preview" loop, give it a spin. 👉 Live Demo: https://markups.vercel.app 📂 GitHub: https://lnkd.in/dcu2bK6N P.S. Try exporting a Mermaid diagram to PDF. It actually works. 😎 hashtag#BuildInPublic hashtag#OpenSource hashtag#DeveloperTools hashtag#ReactJS hashtag#Markdown hashtag#Engineering hashtag#AI hashtag#WebDev
