Hi Product Hunt, I'm Shafi. I built MacMetric because Activity Monitor answers "what is the CPU doing" but not the questions I actually have at 2am: what is on port 3000, why is my RAM gone while Ollama is running, and which of these forty Chrome/Electron helper processes belong to which app.
What it does:
- Groups helper processes under the app they belong to, so "Chrome" is one row with its real total
- Groups dev servers by project folder and shows what's holding each port
- Detects local model runtimes and Docker containers with their memory
- Keeps up to 30 days of history locally, plus recordable sessions (a build, a video export)
- 13 alert rules with cooldowns; alerts only inform, nothing is stopped for you
It's native SwiftUI with only Apple frameworks. No account, no telemetry; metrics and history never leave your Mac.
Things to know up front: it's a beta (macOS 15+, Apple Silicon only) and not notarized yet, so macOS will ask you to right-click → Open (the site shows the steps). Free version (Overview, CPU, Memory) with no account or card; $9.99 one-time unlocks everything, with a 30-day money-back guarantee.
I'd love feedback on what's missing for your workflow. Happy to answer anything about how the process grouping works.
