Nonprofit compensation data that makes sense

Most nonprofit compensation data is locked behind expensive subscriptions or buried in raw IRS filings. Lucido makes it instantly searchable: -Filter by role -Location -Organization size -NTEE code See percentile breakdowns across the full dataset. Every data point comes directly from IRS Form 990 filings — not surveys or estimates. The free tier gives you real results, not paywalled teasers.

We built Lucido because we kept running into the same problem: IRS Form 990 filings are public record, but actually finding compensation data in them is miserable. The raw XML files are enormous, the field names are cryptic, and there is no good way to search across filings to answer a simple question like, “What does a typical Development Director at a mid-size nonprofit make?” Existing tools either charge hundreds per year for basic access or only show you one organization at a time, with no way to compare. We wanted something that felt more like searching a database: filter by role, location, organization size, and sector, and get real percentile breakdowns across thousands of filings. The hardest part was title normalization. IRS filings have no standard for job titles: one organization writes “CEO,” another writes “Chief Exec Officer,” another writes “President/Executive Director.” We built a normalization layer that maps all of these to canonical titles so searches actually work. We would love feedback on what data would be most useful to surface next. We are considering adding historical trend views and board compensation comparisons.
