As the founder, I came up with the idea of LowLighter because Alt+Tab was extremely annoying, focus breaking, and getting old for my peers and I. I needed something quick, instant, and versatile.
Every time I needed to look something up, translate a paragraph, or ask AI about something on screen, I had to screenshot, switch apps, paste, wait, then switch back. By the time I got the answer, I was already frustrated.
LowLighter fixes that. Hotkey, drag a box, answer appears. Done. You stay where you are.
The Important!:
Works on literally anything visible (yes, even video frames, locked fullscreen, locked PDFs, etc)
Phantom mode keeps the overlay invisible to screen recordings. Useful if you stream or record tutorials.
Fast translate does OCR locally for 35 languages, no server needed, extremely fast.
The aesthetic stuff is fun, includes RGB border effects, snowfall mode, etc.
It's macOS only for now, with windows public release coming soon.
