The way I see it there are two possible options: 1. Connect to consumers existing social channels as done by TripAdvisor where users encouraged to Login with their Facebook account and as a result all their activity on TripAdvisor is broadcast to their Facebook network. 2. Build a loyal community as done by Couchsurfing where you have local meetups in cities all over the world on a weekly basis with lots of events and active forums. For now we have a review system that enables our users to rate each activity and locals.

@odedn Could you go into any thoughts you have on plans to stand out/get traction in a space that's already got established players like Vayable (and other newer ones like in the collection I linked to in my other comment)? Thx

@anujadhiya Very good point you raised, the online travel industry is a tough one to say the least. However to my delightful surprise 2014 seems like a turning point for the activity segment, Viator was acquired by TripAdvisor, GetYourGuide got $24M investment from Spark Capital, Peek had raised $5M additional money and Vayable are getting great feedback, which is awesome and suggests that consumers loves this kind of product. When it comes to P2P guided tours and activities (which Vayable are surely doing great work on this space) I believe that there is a room for additional players that can build viral products. I will have to keep my thought on our strategy to myself for now :)

I've found wherever I've traveled and spent time with locals, the experience is so much richer. How do you think about adding a social layer, so that my experiences can be informed by the community and those I know?

There is a new site that has come up in this space hippiewalks.com. Hippiewalks lets travelers enjoy a foreign town with local's perspective free of cost. what do you think about the free pricing strategy? It aims to be like couchsurfing
