Hi! I made this chrome extension after getting annoyed at the gap between the power of tiny TTS models and the awful voice quality of every free AI reader application that I could find (that wasn't a gradio demo). These applications tend to paywall the high quality voices since they're compute intensive, and only let you use extremely old and robotic Stephen Hawking-esque voices on the free tier. The core product is pretty simple, but I iterated it a lot to sand down as many rough edges as possible. It uses the WebGPU implementation of the 40M parameter KokoroTTS model, and it runs faster than 4x realtime on my macbook. If you try it and like it, a review on the chrome web store would be really appreciated!
