I built LiveTranslateAI because I saw search demand for real-time translation during video calls. People were looking for solutions, but most options were plugins for Teams or Zoom that lock you into specific platforms and charge per-minute fees. My approach: I started building a Teams/Zoom plugin, but realized the real need was a standalone solution that works anywhere. So I pivoted to create a complete app with built-in video calls—no plugins, no platform lock-in, just seamless translation. The evolution: As a one-man team, I began with a simple MVP focused on low latency (<5 seconds) using OpenAI’s Whisper and GPT-4o-mini. User feedback pushed me to add video calls, improve the UI for fullscreen mode, and ensure translations are readable without being cut off. I also added a freemium model so teams can try it before committing. Today, LiveTranslateAI supports 17 languages and works in real time during video calls. Whether you’re closing deals across borders or collaborating with international teams, language is no longer a barrier.
