Hello PH!
I built this app to unlock the potential that YouTube has for language learning. Personally I've been studying Mandarin Chinese for over 10 years and along the way, YouTube has been a never ending source of material to keep me motivated. So I built LingoLingo to maximize the takeaway from watching videos in your target language!
My initial frustration with YouTube was that I couldn't copy the subtitles in the app. After tackling that, I also added tap-to-translate for convenience and web lookup for things that are not in a dictionary (names, current events, slang). What really took LingoLingo to the next level was the addition of automatic exercises that pop up while you're watching.
These exercises get created automatically when you open a video. So instead of learning random sentences (like in a certain owl-themed app), the exercises in LingoLingo are based on real-world content and natural language. This allows for a powerful combination of immersion and immediate reinforcement, which is scientifically proven to boost language learning.
We've been testing with around 100 users on iOS and Android for the past six months, and I feel like it's ready to share publicly for the first time.
Happy to hear your thoughts and to answer questions. Enjoy!

@yunus_abd Hi Yunis, love the idea. I think combining what people already do, doom scrolling YouTube, is a great way to learn. I would use this to perfect my Spanish.
I downloaded the app on my iPhone but I did notice an issue. When I tap Load subtitles and exercises then Watch ad and unlock, nothing happens, the subtitles and exercises don't load and I cannot tap anything on the screen. My iPhone just installed an update so maybe that has something to do with it.

@ismaelyws Hi Hans, thanks for trying the app! Sorry about that, restarting the app should fix it. I'm working on a new app release to make this more robust. Thanks for the feedback!
