Killed by Google 💀

Hello Product Hunt! Thank you @killthekitten for hunting Killed by Google. Did you know Google created a product scarily similar to Uber but killed it? I was understandably saddened when it was announced that Inbox by Google was sentenced to the guillotine, and I wanted to create an open source, community-driven statement about the churn of products at large companies like Google that are quickly adopted by a community of users and become suddenly unavailable. Why "killed"? It's meant to be tongue-in-cheek and the opposite of @madebygoogle. I understand product lifecycles mean that some products are lost due to iteration or absorption of their features into a wider brand. That doesn't mean we can't mourn the brands, products, services, and devices we used to love. 😅 My goal is to have this be a place that tracks the end of life status when they are announced by Google, and also be a cemetery you can scroll through when you're feeling nostalgic. I also wanted to raise awareness for the Wikimedia Foundation and the Internet Archive, two organizations doing amazing work in preserving software and knowledge for generations to come.
