Compared to just chatting within a singular WhatsApp group, the chief benefit is that your status updates are isolated from a group chat environment. So, the content you share to your group doesn't necessarily have to interrupt the flow of your conversations, but you still get acknowledgement from group members via likes in your status feed. The second benefit is that you can post across multiple groups the same piece of content without letting anyone in any group know. For example: I'm looking to get dinner and I want to see if anyone from my coworkers' group or my close-friends' group wants to join to me. My coworkers will see other coworkers who liked my status, but they won't see anyone from my close-friends group who liked it (and vice versa). Moreover, because you choose your audience, you can be assured that with each post, the poster had you in mind when they made it. So it has greater personal value than posts you would see on existing platforms.
