Hey Hunters! 😺 It’s been a wild journey since the first release of Keyviz. What started as a small utility tool has grown into a full-fledged app, thanks to this community's support. Today, I’m thrilled to introduce the biggest update yet. This isn't just a minor patch—it’s a total evolution. It has moved beyond just "keys" to include full mouse visualization, meaning your audience never has to guess what you're clicking or where you're scrolling. 🖱️⌨️ I’ve also spent a lot of time under the hood making the app more stable, customizable, and lightweight. Keyviz remains open-source and free to use. Check it out at https://keyviz.org. Can’t wait to see how you use it in your videos!

The move from just keystroke visualization to full mouse tracking is a game-changer! @rahul_mula I'm curious about the technical implementation - how did you handle the mouse drag visualization without showing the "Null" issue that one reviewer mentioned? Also, with Tauri as the framework, what was the performance impact of adding real-time mouse tracking on top of keyboard detection? This seems perfect for my coding tutorials where I need to show both shortcuts AND where I'm clicking in the IDE.

Rahul Mula

@curious_builder I started from scratch! The 'Null' issue was fixed by rethinking how the app handles event states in the new internal logic.

By moving to Tauri, the app became more lightweight and stable than the previous version, giving it that true native desktop feel.

Using Keyviz in tutorials saves a ton of back and forth. Keystrokes plus mouse clicks and scroll make intent obvious, so you don't have to narrate every step. Auto-pause when a password field is focused would make it feel extra safe.

@piroune_balachandran Glad to hear it’ll be useful for your tutorials! Auto-pausing on password fields would be a neat safety feature—I'll look into it.

I purchased the pro version and everytime I try to install and run the app I get an error. Downloaded the free version and still got the same error

Rahul Mula

@gerald_parker1 This "damaged" error is a security precaution triggered by macOS Gatekeeper rather than an actual issue with the file. Because this app is not yet notarized through a paid Apple Developer account ($99/year), macOS blocks it from running.

You can try this fix or request a refund.

How does Keyviz handle multi-monitor setups? Can the visualization follow the active window, or is it locked to a specific coordinate on the primary screen?

Rahul Mula

@lightninglx In Settings, you can choose which monitor displays the keys.
