Hookread

Stop judging books by their covers

Discover your next favorite book through anonymous sneak peeks where the story speaks louder than the cover. A "blind reading" platform. Read engaging book hooks without knowing the title or author. For readers- Find your next obsession based on the quality of the writing, not the fame of the author or the beauty of the cover. For authors- Reach new readers by letting your writing speak for itself. Build your audience before you even publish.

On Hookread, we strip everything away. No titles. No author names. No cover art. Just the "Hook"—a carefully selected sample of the prose. We want readers to experience that pure moment of discovery where a story grabs you and will not let go. Only after you are hooked do we reveal the book identity and provide a link to the author's work. For Authors: Hookread is a powerful tool to build an audience based on your voice. You can even publish hooks for unpublished works to grow your mailing list before launch day. I would love for you to try the "blind reading" experience and give us your feedback. How does it feel to find a story without judging it by its cover? I will be here all day to answer your questions. Let's let the stories do the talking!

Love the blind-date-for-books vibe tbh. How do you handle genre/mood filtering without giving too much away… Also curious if you’re seeing higher completion rates vs cover-led browsing

@amitpsharma We don't have enough data yet to compare conversion rates directly, but that’s definitely something we’re tracking as we grow! Right now, the main focus is just building a dedicated space for those blind 'sneak peeks', stripping away the title and author so the writing stands on its own. We essentially want to do for reading what short-form video did for video content: give people a quick, frictionless way to sample a story before they commit.
