Hey PH 👋 I'm super excited to share our latest project with you all! One of the things I’ve noticed in recent times is that a lot of product builders and indie hackers are starting to share their thoughts on improving soft skills to be an even better product builder. They often talk about skills like writing. After reading one such twitter post a few months back I asked myself what’s the best way to improve writing? Not surprisingly daily practice was in the first place. However, what’s in second place might surprise you. 

It’s having a Copy Buddy. A copy buddy is a well-established practice in the world of copywriting courses and it’s essentially an accountability partner. It’s someone with similar goals that joins you on your path to becoming a better writer. After doing all this research I wanted to get a copy buddy for myself as well as for some other people from my office. What I found was that there is no unified way of getting a copy buddy. Instead, people search through fb groups, subreddits, and twitter threads in search of a suitable partner. And that’s why we built HeyCopy. A curated community / portal where product builders and indie hackers who want to improve their writing can find a suitable copy buddy. HeyCopy is a place with: - alligned incentives, - matching based on goals and experiences, - vetting and curating of everyone that joins and - reviews that keep everyone honest. Love that this is a free service but I would absolutely pay for it. Having another writer to provide feedback and bounce ideas off of is invaluable. Great product. Congrats on the launch!

@dawn_veltri1 Thanks so much, Dawn! I really appreciate it! 🙏🏼 Allow me to do some small scale market research. How much would you be willing to pay for such a service? I was thinking that in the future we could add a second uber-like layer on top of the free copy buddy connection service, where the best copywriters could earn by working with others and we would take a typical marketplace fee.

@simonsovic I think it comes down to how much your time is worth. For example the 15min vetting call isn't scalable without charging a fee. A monthly fee would probably be out because once people find a good match they'll move off the platform. It's kind of like a match making service. I think starting out I would be willing to pay $100. Once you have social proof and I started to hear a buzz about it, I would be willing to pay more than that. The second layer sounds like a good plan!
