HexPickr

Extract OKLCH & Tailwind palettes from images in 5 seconds

Standard HEX pickers are dying. They can't represent the wide-gamut P3 colors modern screens support. I spent 60 days in an 'Agent War' with Codex and Antigravity to build HexPickr. It extracts perceptually accurate OKLCH palettes for Tailwind v4, turning real-world photography into production-ready code.

Hi Product Hunt! I’m the builder of HexPickr.

After 10 years away from the IDE, I thought AI agents would make building a SaaS easy. I was wrong. It was a 60-day battle.

The War with the Agents:

  • Codex handled the heavy lifting but had 'senior moments' where it would completely forget my database schema mid-session.

  • The Funny Part: At one point, Codex literally went on strike. I asked it to help with i18n translation labels, and it replied that this 'wasn't its strength' and that I should do it by a real human translater. I’ve never been talked back to by a compiler before! Finally, ChatGPT as my PM, who helped me at last.

  • Antigravity was the genius that finally solved the complex OKLCH color math, but I had to fight 'token walls' and wait days for trial resets just to fix a single bug.

The Goal: I built this because HEX is no longer enough for high-end design. OKLCH is the first color space that's perceptually uniform. HexPickr helps you grab those 'vibrant' colors from photos that old HEX pickers simply can't 'see.'

I’m here all day to talk about OKLCH, Tailwind v4, or the nightmare of debugging payment webhooks with AI!

P.S. To the 3,000 folks coming in from r/tailwindcss—I'm currently fighting a 'token wall' with Antigravity to keep the site stable for the traffic. Ask me anything about the OKLCH math!
