Personal music player for Youtube and Reddit

#4 Product of the DayApril 30, 2017

Headset is a simple music player for Mac, Windows and Linux with integrated YouTube search, a home screen with popularity list by genres and eras, and best of all, a radio powered by Reddit. Headset takes the songs that are shared in over 80 music subreddits, categorizes them and plays them automatically. It's a great and pretty unique way to find new music as it is chosen by other humans like you and not by algorithms.

Thanks @xikolarico for the hunt! My name is Daniel, I'm the maker of Headset. I've been a music lover since I can remember myself. When I got into coding 6 years ago, I literally couldn't function without my headphones blasting music at me non-stop. That's what kept me focused and energized. I used Rdio and Spotify for a couple of years, but when my financials went up the spout, I had to use YouTube as a free alternative. I quickly realized that YouTube has absolutely everything I was looking for (and beyond), but YouTube is not designed at all to play music, and it drove me nuts. I missed the little things like using the keyboard media keys, building queues, music discovery... In addition, some videos such as EDM are so NSFW that I couldn't actually listen to them at work. ๐Ÿ˜† I built Headset to mainly solve my problem. After some research, I found out that I'm not the only one who struggle and decided to turn it into a real product. Currently, it only runs on Mac. Windows/Linux versions will be out soon.

@danielravina Consider introducing a macOS Widget for Notification Center or even collaborating with apps like Silicio http://bolzoneapps.tumblr.com/si... and MiniPlay https://www.producthunt.com/post... for quick access/ controls.
@danielravina @xikolarico I like it Daniel. Thanks for making. Save for later is winning feature. Like Pocket for music. :)
Hey Daniel, It's looking very good, the only feedback I have is the password restrictions on signup, no need to have the validation that strict :)
@themsaid thanks for the feedback! just following industry standards. On that note I do admit that the Forgot Password function is not there yet. Hopefully it wasn't a big hurdle!
Windows users here. Sad life lol ^_^
@towhidzaman stay tuned on twitter! Windows version coming soon
@danielravina that would be awesome :-)
@towhidzaman, HI! We just put out the Windows version here https://github.com/headsetapp/he... It's not on the website yet. I'm sending it out to a few people to try it out. Was wondering if you might want to give it a try? Cheers!
