If you guys are nostalgic of Path and feel current networks are not fit for your privacy Hallo App is for you. It is really well-executed for version 1 and that is no surprise given that the founder is one of the key executives who made Whatsapp

It's not clear to me who I am sharing with, all my phone contacts I guess? That is not an acceptable list really. I like the idea, and loved Path, but need better privacy controls here.
neeraj arora
@jud5on hi Judson, you can go to settings -> privacy -> posts and change it to a narrower setting.

@neerajarora Hmm, yeah, it's still very contacts based, which I don't like personally. I don't mind starting out with contacts, but I would like the layer of *in Hallo* deciding if I want to connect with someone. Like, I have contacts who are vendors from work, business phone numbers etc., a layer of abstraction between that list and a social network is needed in my opinion. There are people with even more sensitive situations like violent exes and things as well.

@neerajarora My thoughts are precisely that of @jud5on . Need more granular sharing options. The options in privacy is a simple one-size-fits-all approach. That's the same idea as Facebook, isn't it. Would have really created a niche if you can share things with certain groups of people only. No full blows contacts list needed. That's my 2 cents anyway
neeraj arora
@jud5on @varun_bharadwaj try creating groups and see if that helps.

Great App for your private life, you can easily invite people you want to chat with only. I'd suggest you add video and voice call features in future.
Hanna Greene
nice one :)

So simple and so cute, success to you!

Is there a max number of users you can have in your network? And how can you easily migrate from Whatsapp to this?
neeraj arora
@ims43 no restriction on the size of the network - it depends on your phone's address book. you can create groups and easily migrate groups over using the group link invite.
Weekee Tiew
Looks great, what is the next feature?
neeraj arora
@weekee13 a bunch of new things planned to be rolled out in coming weeks.
