Late 2017, a close friend of mine and I got super frustrated 😖 with a load of stuff we've kept since we finished university, we've thrown them onto multiple marketplaces and still haven’t sold it - we’ve all been there 🥱. Out of the frustration of hoarding things we've kept (keeping in mind the majority of these items would be more beneficial for other students), GYRE was birthed 👶. The idea started out as creating a Swapping marketplace specific to current/recent students 🎓. 🤲🎁We introduced our beta app to university students in the University of Hertfordshire as a niche test market, the beta app was released for download in October 2018 and closed April 2019. We had great success in the adoption of the concept and collated lots of feedback for the final product which is now introduced to the mass public. The GYRE app has two core features, The primary being Trade by Swap 🔄 where users can exchange mutually valuable items and on the other hand, Trade by Pay 💰 to give alternative choices of trading. Our unique selling point is the bartering experience that we offer users, as well as the convenience of carrying out transactions with other individuals. We hope to use Gyre to encourage reuse/recycle ♻️, allow users to gain and share value 🏅either through swaps or some cash as well as connect with people 🤝.
