GravelCalc is a free planning tool for driveways, paths, landscaping, French drains, and paver bases. Enter the project dimensions, gravel type, waste allowance, and local pricing to estimate weight, volume, and total cost instantly.
Would love to see a visual diagram or sketch feature where I can plot the shape of the area instead of just entering dimensions, since most of my projects aren't perfect rectangles and it throws off the estimates.
@gzdecoansurdwq Great suggestion — this is actually something we’ve been thinking about as well. Many real-world landscaping and gravel projects aren’t perfect rectangles, so entering only length × width can definitely create inaccurate estimates.
A sketch-based area tool where users can draw the shape, adjust points, and calculate the area automatically would make the estimate much more practical. We’ll add this to our roadmap. Thanks for the feedback!
Finally a gravel calculator that doesn't make you guess how much waste to add, and the cost-per-ton tied to your zip code is a really nice touch. Saved me from ordering way too much for my French drain.
@luzunefe16087 Appreciate the feedback! 🙌 French drains are actually one of the use cases we had in mind because getting the amount slightly wrong can mean extra material, extra cost, or another trip to the supplier.

Love how clean the input fields are, with the waste allowance slider right next to depth and pricing. Makes it feel like a real tool instead of a generic calculator.

The waste allowance slider was added because real projects are rarely perfect — depth, material settling, spillage, and uneven areas can all affect the final amount. Glad the layout made the process easier!
