The WHY and HOW ...I came up with the idea to make this niche product. If you don't care, this is the TLDR: ===> Make products you NEED. Not you think you need. <=== I burned out in my full-time job a year ago. I thought I would travel a bit and then find another one while still running my side hustles. The travel plan was to visit Asia + Australia for 4 months. I did it (I am writing it from Bali btw). But I decided to extend for one more month to ride a bicycle from Portugal to Poland. And as you can guess, the spark was on the ride. I wanted to put a map and speed on the video from my ride as I was recording quick descends. HOW: I tried a year ago, but the available tools were clunky. There was just one solid but expensive one. This time I had the same problem. I looked at Reddit posts, IG/YT videos with the overlays and people seemed to have the same problem! But wait, I can do it in 1 day. So I did! Worked! I made my first video. The WHY becomes to make the overlay generation available in an easy way and for everyone. I started to post it in the same places where I was looking for the solution. I just commented/answered. Never posted. I got many upvotes and thanks. The FIRST user ever texted me the app was broken (indeed it was!). So, I continued working on it. It took me 3 months to polish it and prepare for all edge cases before allowing users to use it and PAY. I've tried many, many products, SaaS, and e-commerce, but this one actually worked because I NEEDED the solution. On my way to finding it, I met multiple people who had the same problem and were looking for the same solution. Let's summarise it with a nice metaphor: The product is the water mill, but you need a river to make it useful. Look for the river first. The water is the users.
