This is beautiful, Pierre! I have been looking for a system just like Gladys recently, so thanks for making it! Do you have a plan to monetize in the near future?
Pierre-Gilles
@joey_tawadrous Hey! Thanks for your message :) It's already monetized since 1.5 years! On the past year, I did 20k$ in revenue on the project by selling an ebook + video pack about Gladys (only in french, that's why you don't see it on the website). All the revenue is public here => https://gladysproject.com/open But I'm now launching an international product, the Gladys Gateway, which will be available for 9.99€/month in the coming weeks. If you want to see what's the Gladys Gateway, have a look at this Tweet Thread => https://twitter.com/pierregilles...

@pierregillesl That is quite impressive, Pierre. Keep rocking it!

Hey everyone! 5 years ago, as I was still a student, I built Gladys: A Jarvis-like home automation software that allowed me to control my house and automate many things in my life, just thanks to a Raspberry Pi. From my lights, music, coffee machine: anything could be automated and integrated into a nice scenario. I released the software for completely free and open-source, and quickly I saw lots of interests in the project. Years after years, I improved the software with the help of my awesome community, to bring it where we are now. Today, we now have more than 35k downloads of Gladys and more than 3 000 people in the online community. Since last year I started monetizing the project so that I can work full time on it. I did 20k$ in revenue the first year, and it's still growing. I have a new product linked to Gladys that's going to be live soon for 9.99€/month, and I can't wait to release it online! Don't hesitate to reach me if you have any question :)

Awesome work! Congrats on your PH launch :-) When I'm traveling, would Gladys be able to send me temperature readings from my home?
Pierre-Gilles
@poehah Fore sure! You can receive on Telegram a message with any type of data from your home :)
Maarten Belmans
@pierregillesl Awesome! Do you have a guide on how to get temperature readings and what I can use best for it? Thanks!
Pierre-Gilles
@poehah it really depends what kind of hardware you have, or plan to have. Are you more a DIY guy and want to build it with an arduino and some hand soldered sensors, or do you prefer a consumer ready solution (often more expensive) ?
Maarten Belmans
@pierregillesl If I can choose, I'd prefer a consumer-ready device. I can probably whip something up on an Arduino though. I though it didn't need soldering, just pluging pins? 😄
Pierre-Gilles
@poehah It's up to you! A great and cheap consumer ready solution is Xiaomi Home devices, it's like 7$ per sensor ( Example: https://www.gearbest.com/xiaomi-... ) Gladys connects well with Xiaomi devices, and it's really plug and play!

Great open source project

Pros:

Great UI | Active community

Cons:

Mostly French support but opened for English

Pierre-Gilles
Thanks for your comment Olivier :) I'm definitely trying to bring more english speaking people into the project, and I hope this launch will help us reach more people outside of France!

A cool project made by @pierregillesl, really exciting to see someone make a smart home assistant as accessible and affordable as simply having to buy a rasberry pi! 🎉
Pierre-Gilles
@aaronoleary Thanks for hunting us Aaron, I'm happy to see all the nice comments on this thread :)

Few months ago I came across Gladys & realised this is a thing which you didnt knew existed but would definitely use to make your life more simpler. I can't wait to use it 😊

Great job Pierre-Gilles Leymarie 🙌

Pros:

Automates your life

Cons:

Might make you lazy 🤣

Pierre-Gilles
Thanks for your nice comment Akshay! Gladys can make you lazy or on the contrary makes you move more, by waking you up earlier thanks to a nice music, lights and coffee ready ;) It's just up to you! 😛
