GestureV is a free, open-source browser-based gesture recognition system. Control your computer with hand gestures, facial expressions, and body movements using your webcam. No hardware required.

Free and open source is a huge plus. One thing that would make it way more useful for me is a way to create custom gesture shortcuts that map to specific keyboard actions, so I can trigger things like opening apps or running scripts without needing to build separate profiles for each one.
@muammerida25618 Thanks! Custom gesture shortcuts are definitely something I'm working toward. The goal is to let you map gestures to keyboard shortcuts, launch apps, run scripts, and automate common tasks all while keeping everything easy to customize. Really appreciate the suggestion!
Ran it in the browser and was surprised it actually picked up my hand swipes without any setup. Nice that it's open source too, makes it easy to tweak for specific use cases.
@dursunrosu Thanks! That was exactly the goal, make it work with as little setup as possible. I'm glad the browser experience worked smoothly for you. And yes, keeping GestureV open source means anyone can customize it for their own workflow or even contribute improvements. Really appreciate you giving it a try!

The idea of controlling computers with gestures has been around for years, but hardware always got in the way. What made now the right time for this to finally work well?
@aryan787544 Great question! The biggest difference now is that the technology finally became practical. In the past, gesture control relied on expensive hardware like depth sensors, motion trackers, or wearable devices, which limited adoption.
Today, better cameras, faster computers, and advances in computer vision allow accurate hand tracking using hardware people already have. GestureV takes advantage of that shift to make gesture-based computer control simple, accessible, and something anyone can try without needing extra equipment.
honestly the fact that this runs entirely in the browser with no install or extra hardware is kind of wild, like you just open it and it works. love that it being open source means people can actually tweak it for their own needs.
@ebubekirka42392 Thank you! That was one of the biggest goals behind GestureV just open it and start using it, without downloads or special hardware. I'm really glad that experience came across. Thanks so much for giving it a try!
