Why did we build Fylent?

Your files shouldn't be someone else's business.

We built Fylent because we were tired of the status quo in online file tools. You know the drill: you need to convert a PDF or format some text, so you upload it to a "free" website. But what happens next? Your document sits on their servers. Maybe it gets deleted. Maybe it doesn't. Maybe it gets analyzed. Maybe it gets sold. You just don't know.

Add to that the endless paywalls ("upgrade for files larger than 5MB!"), forced account creation ("sign up to download!"), intrusive ads, and agonizingly slow upload times—it became clear that existing solutions weren't built for users. They were built to extract maximum value FROM users.

We thought: there has to be a better way.

The breaking point came when a friend refused to use online converters for work documents because they contained sensitive client information. They were stuck installing bloated desktop software for a task that should take seconds. That's when we realized: what if files never had to leave your device at all?
