Hey hunters ππ½
I'm a YC founder turned indie hacker - excited the share FreeUpMyMac
I built FreeUpMyMac because my System Data was taking up 300GB and it took me months to figure out how to clear the old cache, logs, junk and more. And CleanMyMac is a subscription - I refuse to pay subscription fees for Mac apps that run locally. FreeUpMyMac is the opposite: offline, lifetime, and clears junk with 1 click.
Full scan in under 2 minutes
Remove junk files, caches, and logs in 1 click
Sunburst and Treemap charts to visualize your storage
100% on-device scan, your files stay private
One-time purchase, no subscription
Would love to hear your thoughts :)
p.s itβll be interesting to hear your System Data usage in the comments!

Cool concept, I have a python script I run that auto cleans all caches etc but can't expect the normal user to be able to do that =)

@flexasaurusrexΒ That's cool! Before building out FreeUpMyMac features, I started out with a script too for my Mac
@flexasaurusrexΒ can you share the python script
Congrats on launching FreeUpMyMac on Product Hunt! π Solving the opaque βSystem Dataβ bloat in a focused, one-click Mac cleaner with fast scans, clear visualizations, and an offline, privacy-safe approach feels like a very timely, opinionated take in a crowded utility space.

@zeiki_yuΒ Thanks!!

@biswajit_kar01Β it doesn't just clear cache, it also lets you visualize what's taking up space on your Mac. Plus it's a one time fee rather than subscription

That βSystem Dataβ blob is the bane of my existenceβ¦ curious tho: whatβs your method for figuring out whatβs actually safe to delete vs stuff macOS will just recreate (or worse, break)? Do you show a preview / size breakdown before the 1-click nuke
Helpful, thanks! I actually have a Mac.
This sounds very interesting!
What is the minimum macOS version?
