I’m Mehrab, the founder of ARCED International and creator of FolderManifest - an offline folder audit and duplicate-detection tool designed for researchers, developers, and data professionals who care about privacy, accuracy, and speed.
Why we built FolderManifest
After years of managing massive research and data-collection projects, we constantly ran into the same pain: messy folders, lost files, and unreliable cloud syncs that sometimes led to team disputes! I thought of creating a time machine - a snapshot taker that we can verify anytime in the future to resolve any disagreement. That's how we started.
You can create a file tree super-fast, save the file tree for future reference. During the scan it can identify definite duplicates and possible duplicates - and clean them with one click! Most “duplicate finder” tools were either too intrusive (scanning everything online), too slow, or simply didn’t give trustworthy integrity checks.
So, we built FolderManifest - a lightweight desktop app that:
📂 Scans any folder instantly (no upload, no cloud, super-fast)
🧩 Detects duplicates using multiple verification modes (hash, byte-compare, fingerprint, perceptual) and identify definite duplicates and possible duplicates
🧾 Generates full folder manifests for audits, archiving, or verification
🔒 Works completely offline - your files never leave your computer

Researchers, archivists, developers, digital creators, and anyone who wants to trust their folders again.

We’re adding smarter duplicate grouping, manifest verification reports, and enhanced visualization.
