Distraction-free productivity via virtual coworking
Focusmate virtual coworking provides accountability exactly when and how you need it to get things done—live, "in person" from another human being.
Users to work side-by-side, remotely over video, in structured 50 minute sessions.
Let a Focusmate hold your feet to the fire, just like your coworkers might in a real office.
Forget every other accountability habit / hack / app, this one straight up works.
I'd love to be able to do Pomodoro sprints within Focusmate and set daily / weekly goals for myself.
Similar to working out with a trainer, the hardest part is showing up – once you're there, you don't waste time and you always work harder than you would have alone.Collin Walter has used this product for one year.
Works like magic. Bizarrely effective if you use it.
You have to use it for it to work.
I was one of the earliest users of Focusmate and have been passionately sharing it with friends and colleagues since. It helps you get immediately into the zone of productivity via the incredibly simple solution of having a partner, live and present, working alongside you. Try it once. If you don’t like it, fine. If it helps you, even better. Why not try something that potentially offers (free) massively improved productivity? Kudos to Taylor and team for building this.Jake Baker has used this product for one year.
I can see this helping me get over the hurdles.
I plan to try this soon!
I work mainly solo and from my home office, and can easily stray from my goals when tasks are tedious or challenging (which is many of them!). I can see using Focusmate as a way to make sure I don't avoid the unpleasant stuff!Amy Giddon has never used this product.
Best way to get forced accountability
I’ve only integrated it into my life for my personal projects, haven’t been able to adopt it in the m work setting yet (but I should try).
I use focus mate to tackle personal project that I just never seem to make progress on. The Focusmate team nails the psychology behind accountability and productivity.Fiona O'Donnell McCarthy has used this product for one year.
- Helps you focus on most important tasks
- On-demand Accountability
- Sometimes you can forget to use the service, but Focusmte sends out email reminders if you're inactive for an extended period.
Focusmate is awesome! Some weeks I spend most of my working time using the service. I see three main benefits of using Focusmate:
1) Picking the most important tasks
Using the Focusmate forces you to pick the 1 to 3 most important things you can complete in 50 minutes.
2) On-demand Accountability
Just having another person there holds you accountable in a way that doesn't happen when you work by yourself
Blocks out intervals of 50 minutes to focus. You know you need to power through the time with as much focus as possible.Jamie Shiller has used this product for one year.
Truly effective way to combat distraction and stay on task
Intuitive calendar interface for booking sessions
Best use of my webcam yet
No option for spur of the moment sessions
Focusmate is awesome, weird (at first), and it totally works.
Once you get that first session under your belt things just click and you really feel the power of social accountability in action. Sharing my tasks with my partner compels me to stick to my plan and it is pleasantly surprising how well that small act works for me. That light social pressure really helps avoid the unlimited distractions my brain can sometimes try to throw my way.
My wife is also a user and logged over 100 sessions studying for and passing her nurse practitioner boards. Focusmate was the reason she was able to show up and study well ahead of time when she didn't really HAVE to do it yet.

Easy and super effective way of committing to get stuff done for remote work, side projects, and anything else that could use a nudge.
Have to adjust to get in the habit of incorporating it as part of your project planning.
