Focast is a minimal natural sound focus timer for macOS. Focast works entirely offline, requires no account, and is built natively for the Mac. You can mix real recorded nature sounds, start a timer, and let your focus accumulate over days through a calm visual history. Focast is designed to feel less like a tool you constantly interact with, and more like a space you enter. For people who write, study, code, read, or think, sometimes the most useful software is the one that does the least.

I’m Todd, the creator of Focast from Zenbox.
Focast is actually not a brand new idea, it’s a reset. Five years ago we built a small Mac app called Qi FM, just to help myself focus using natural sounds. Over time I could have kept adding features, but I kept feeling the product drifting away from why it existed in the first place. So instead of iterating, we stopped and rebuilt it from scratch.
Today’s software world is full of smarter and bigger tools every month. But I still believe there’s room for software with a slower philosophy, tools that age well, like good furniture.
No accounts.
