Flashpoints: The Emerging Crisis in Europe: An in-depth analysis of the geopolitics of Europe

I just got through this book. Once I started I couldn't put it down. Friedman's family story of surviving World War II as Jews then escaping Europe is a compelling backdrop to his analysis. He makes a compelling case for looking with some skepticism at Europe's efforts to exorcise it's 20th century demons through economic unity and prosperity. Looking at nations through the perspective of national interest, the actions of the various leaders of the EU come into focus. With the background of this book the otherwise enigmatic actions of EU leaders start to make some sense. Friedman is to geopolitics what @BenedictEvans is to the tech industry :).
