I had a big problem. As an equity investor just starting out, I was the last person to know what my stocks were doing. I relied on YouTube channels, Twitter, or my friends to know when companies had published earnings. I was late to the trade and on the wrong side most of the time. Eventually I realised that to really play the game, I'd have to find out exactly what management was saying and doing. And not from second-hand info, but from the source itself. So I tried to access the data directly and found that it was a time-consuming, difficult process. The SEC site was painful to navigate given that these are mandatory filings for public companies. More importantly, it wasn't feasible to refresh the page every hour just to be close to when the information actually gets filed. That's when I came up with the idea of FilingsBot. It keeps track of your favourite stocks and notifies you when something gets filed. You get the link so you can access it directly. You also get an extract of the most important line items, so you can easily understand what's going on, at a glance. Alex and I are developing this tool and we need your help.
