Explosive Growth

The guide to bootstrapping a rocketship 🚀

Cliff Lerner's online dating startup, Snap Interactive, was running out of money when he bet the company's fortunes on a then unknown platform called Facebook. The app achieved explosive growth and soon after the stock price skyrocketed 2,000 percent, setting off an extraordinary chain of events filled with sudden success and painful lessons.

I met cliff at one of the early Facebook conferences back in 2007 and we've been friends ever since. That might just be one of the reasons I enjoyed reading his book so much. It was refreshingly engaging and was not your normal business book. Let's be honest: most business books absolutely suck. I have the awful habit of buying business books and don't complete a large portion because they aren't fun to read (there is no story) and could be summarized in a page. Cliff takes you on his volatile journey of building a company that was propelled by the launch of the Facebook Platform. While that opportunity came and went, there are plenty of insights to glean for running a fast growing company and getting it launched even if you aren't technical. I highly recommend picking up this book!
