Hey Everyone! My name is Sean, and welcome to Elekopter! Elekopter is a personal accountability system for your friends and loved ones. Elekopter texts your loved ones if you fail your commitments, and it lets you assign others chores to keep them accountable. All the other features the app has is to support these two core missions. Elekopter was born because I found that other task management/self-improvement apps already assumed you were responsible. I’m a hard worker but something about the way my brain works hates planning things out. So calendar systems and to-do apps never did it for me. I dislike planning out my day and I’d rather brute force tasks and not have to think about them. I’ve enjoyed letting my mind wander and having reminders snap me back to reality instead of keeping a schedule. So I created this app to help me not lose track of things I have to do. I find that a big motivator for self improvement is to be a better, more responsible person for the ones you love, which is why social pressure is the best tool for accountability. The app revolves around that. The app doesn’t have social features because your loved ones are the main people that matter when it comes to self improvement. It has certain guards around “lying” about completing your accomplishments. One feature that helps me out immensely is the “contact on success” feature where, whenever you complete a commitment Elekopter can tell the person of your accomplishment, meaning that if you lie, there will be a web of lies to maintain, making it very awkward and annoying to lie. That feature has been the push I needed for many commitments. Elekopter is also built around convenience! It sends text reminders so you don’t even have to log in in order to complete the task. Elekopter is also great for students! They find that setting up a commitment for assignments really helps them out. They designate their parents for their failure texts and their friends for their “contact on success” texts. Roommates love elekopter because they can assign common household tasks to their roommates, ensuring that there is accountability for chores and a log of work exists.
