I use to work at a travel agency, and Disney has been pushing this *really* hard since mid-2013 with their partners. I think it's an awesome idea and the perfect place to get all sorts of people used to technology that they'd be uncomfortable with anywhere outside Disney.

If you've read Magic Kingdom from Cory Doctorow, im afraid the wristbands will start tracking reputation to pay for things! :)

The future plans for these are great. Eventually will allow you to enter info before going and cast members will be able to see small blurbs; so for example a Princess character can mention something about a family pet, or see recent rides or shows you may have seen and reference them.

It's hard to look at this and not think Apple Watch. I imagine the watch doing what the Magicband does for the real world. It'll just be a bit longer to get there.
