Disco Chess is a chess tactics trainer designed specifically for the Woodpecker Method. It replaces random puzzle grinding with structured repetition that builds real pattern recognition. Puzzles repeat automatically at the right time, stats are tracked for you, and tactics slowly turn into instinct rather than calculation.

I built Disco Chess because I’m a big fan of the Woodpecker Method, a well-known chess training approach where you repeatedly solve the same set of tactical puzzles over multiple cycles to build deep pattern recognition and tactical instinct.
The idea is simple but powerful: by revisiting the same positions again and again, tactics stop being calculation-heavy and start becoming automatic. That’s how strong players “see” tactics instantly.
The problem? In practice, the method is painful to run.
When I first tried it, the Quality Chess website literally linked to a spreadsheet (!) to track repetitions, accuracy, and timing. I also tried generic tactics trainers and even the interactive Woodpecker Method book on Chessable, but they weren’t really built for this workflow. Managing cycles and tracking progress always felt clunky and manual.
So I decided to build a tool designed only for this method.
Disco Chess automates the entire Woodpecker process:
Repetition cycles and spaced repetition
Accuracy and progress tracking
Streaks and habit-building
Zero setup — no spreadsheets, no manual tracking
You just solve puzzles. The system handles everything else.
This is the tool I personally wanted to use to turn chess tactics into muscle memory, and I hope it helps others do the same.
