Hey Product Hunt! 👋 I'm excited to share dataLayer Builder with you today. After years of maintaining those endless Word documents with tracking specs – constantly out of sync between developers, analysts, and stakeholders – I realized we needed a better way to design and document data layers. The core problem I wanted to solve: making event schemas explicit, versionable, and shareable instead of buried in 40-page docs that nobody updates. What it does: - Visual editor to define events, properties, and data types in a structured way - Generates clean dataLayer specs you can implement via GTM/GA4 or custom tracking - Community templates to share best practices and common event models (e-commerce, SaaS, lead gen, etc.) Why I built it this way: The goal is to treat your tracking plan like you'd treat an API schema or database design – with clear contracts, consistent naming conventions, and a single source of truth that both technical and non-technical team members can work from. The tool is free and I plan to keep it that way for as long as possible. If you find value in it, donations help me keep it running and ship new features. I'd love your feedback – especially from folks working with GTM, GA4, or anyone who's struggled with tracking coordination across teams. What's missing? What would make this genuinely useful in your workflow? Thanks for checking it out! 🚀
