The majority of online calculators and tools are bulky, slow, and intrusive of privacy, which is why I created Countimator. I needed something quick, precise, and entirely client-side—that is, your data never leaves your browser—as a lone developer and student.
Over the course of 92 days, the strategy changed significantly. I began with a basic character counter and continued to inquire, "What else does this user actually need?" Reading level analysis, keyword density, speaking time estimators, and eventually a whole suite of products covering education, math, money, health, and more were the results of this.
The fundamental tenets remained same throughout: no paywalls, no tracking of your input, and no fluff. Just functional tools.
