Hi everyone!
As the holidays approach, the race to connect AI assistants with shopping is heating up. OpenAI brought shopping research in ChatGPT, Google added product recommendations in AI mode, and Perplexity upgraded its shopping memory.
MS Copilot is doing something similar, but integrating it right into the Edge browser. It shows price history, comparisons, and even proactively finds coupons in the sidebar.
Personally, I still love the cashback feature the most. Shortening the path from intent to purchase is nice, but getting actual money back? Absolutely love it :P
Maybe AI isn't just about productivity, it's ultimately about helping us spend... more? (Or spending smarter, at least that's what they say ;)
Nice to see more work on intent-based shopping, I’m experimenting with a similar idea focused on DIY and it’s been wild to see how much people want “goal → ready-to-buy setup” instead of just product lists. Great to see a major players validating this direction. Curious to see how this evolves.
Cool to see shopping tools baked right into the browser - way easier than juggling plugins or comparing tabs. The price history + cashback combo is especially nice. Does Copilot surface deals proactively while you browse, or do you have to click the sidebar each time?
