I built Chronalog because I've used static CMS tools before, but there weren't any free options specifically for changelogs. I wanted a changelog system that was, completely free and open source, file-based, had Git-backed for version control and was easy to integrate with Next.js projects The approach evolved from wanting a simple file-based system to building a complete solution with an admin interface, GitHub integration, and MDX support, all while keeping it completely free and giving developers full control over their changelog data.
