Hi PH! This is my first launch ✨ I started Cascara a few years ago as my thesis project for university. I was frustrated trying to find new coffeeshops near me to study or read a book in, scrolling through about 15 reviews just to see if they had outlets or cozy armchairs available. So I started collecting my own data! I put off launching out of nerves and fear of imperfection, but I decided it would be better to share it with the world to get feedback and watch it grow 🌱 Right now you can: 📚 browse our curated lists of coffeehouses for particular activities 🔥 filter our entire database by vibe, amenity, and neighborhood 📜 view detailed info about each coffeehouse 🗺️ navigate to any coffeeshop from your current location I hope you use it to find a new home away from home! Cascara's just in LA right now, but I'm looking to expand to more cities asap. Congratulations on the first time launch Murphy! Would love to see this in Toronto. How did you collect your own data? Did you manually go to each location? Curious how you figured out whether a coffee shop had "cozy armchairs".

As a cafe enthusiast I am grateful for remote work allowing me to work from any cafe I choose. I spend a lot of time searching for places with a peaceful ambience, covid-safe outdoor seating, and a plenty of outlets of course. Apps like Yelp don't make it easy to search for these specific options and in the back of my mind I always thought an extra filter or two would be convenient. Thank you Murphy for launching Cascara at the perfect time, executing it better than I imagined, and making our cafe needs more easily achievable than ever!

Great idea; do you plan to expand to other cities? I find I’m always going to the same coffee shop because I know it has fast wifi and a great working environment. This would really help me find new places to go!

Awesome product! I love working/studying/reading at coffee shops all over Los Angeles. I find myself obsessively reading Yelp reviews and looking at images to glean details like: what’s the WiFi situation? What’s the seating setup? Do people study here or just hang out? Cascara has all that info tagged and so it’s MUCH easier to use compared to Yelp. Would love to see this in San Diego!
